I bought a new UFlex shifter throttle control. I am going to reuse the old cables but have 1 new 1 if I really need it. In the controller there are some holes for adjustment. How can I tell if I get the controls correct?
How do you measure the shift/throttle travel?
Are they limited at the engine or controller?

This is a Force 1988 85 Hp.

I will remove the start in neutral switch from the controller as the engine already has 1. no need for 2 potential headaches as to why it won't start :)

Re: New Control Box

Website is not good. :( Instrutions just say 1 hole move 67mm and the oth is like 78mm. Not sure what I need to measure. Do I look on the engine and shift the current shifter and measure full stroke?

I am replacing more for looks and feel than function hoewver i lost the cover for the old shifter and don't want to spend the time to dig up another. Besides its faded and the new 1 looks awsome.
Controler

Re: New Control Box

Realgun, I guess that would work, at lest you would have an idea of the length of throw it would take on the engine, I would guess it's the longer of the two, it is on a mercury--Bob

Re: New Control Box

Yeah, that is a good looking controler.

Can you measure the throw from the original and use it to determine the right setup for the uflex? Or is it more complicated than that?

Mark.

Re: New Control Box

I can try it but man I am upset.( Yellow stream mad!) The boat gods dumped 2 inches of heavy snow on the boat!

The old controller is still hooked up i will measure it as soon as i can get to it. I hope the cover holds that snow off. I just foamed the seat bases where the cusions go and the holes are still open. It was 70 degrees for crying out load on Friday! The foam should hold the water out but I still hope it does not get into those areas. That darn cover got holed and the seam is slitting as I take it off every other day it seems. The plywood was not sealed yet either. I know it will dry but that takes time!!! I want to go boating!
