new control/won't start/alarm

put new bombardier top mount contol on toon for 1978 75hp johnson. have new harness with red plug end, control end pluged into key switch fine.have remaining yellow/redstripe on key switch and 2 yellow/redstripe on control. can hear choke click on but no starter and an alarm when key on and every 30 seconds?I noticed a yellow/red stripe wire on starter selinoid hooked old contol back on and starter worked! am i not hooking up a neutral safty switch or something?also lower on trim tilt don't work can i replace this switch?

The yellow/red wire goes to the starter solinoid thats the wire that engages your starter. The other 2 wires are the saftey switch they have to be spliced together if not you wont have a closed circuit.

Thank you, I ended up closing my circut by going through key switch then back to control. I assume one chirp when key is turned on to start is normal.starts just fine NOW.
