New D3 Installation help

Need to install a new D3 220 w/ Duoprop. Currently there aren't any engine bedders or mounts, nor is the transom cut out for the drive.

I have the literature for establishing the height of the crankshat/power package height. My question is, can this be raised without creating a performance / overheat issue?

I've never installed an I/O before, however I have installed many outboards and have found that I can usually raise the mounting height several inches above the manufacturer's recommendation and actually increase performance without problems.

Thanks for the help

Literature lists drive as SX/DPS, is there more I should look for?

Package is new, still in crate 2012

I would stick with the X dimensions given, unlike an outboard, if it doesn't work, you end up replacing the transom and recutting the hole. You willing to go that route to find out, because no two boats will give the same results.

Re: New D3 Installation help

Good advice, kinda what I was thinking,

I understand the "x" dimesion (I think) to establish the correct height of the propulsion package , but Step 1 of the Installation process has me baffled. It references the top of the water surface (the body of water that the boat is in)and the top of the outdrive with a dimension of 7.9" between the two (showing the drive 7.9" below the water surface). What is that supposed to mean? I cannot change or vary that dimension as the boat will float where it will?! Is this a caution about exhaust height or some other potential problem? Also, I won't know that dimesion until the project is complete?

Again, Thanks for you help and for sharing your knowledge on this topic.

I have no idea what you are looking at, could you scan that page of the instructions and post it here?

No luck with the scan- can't get new computer to work scanner. Going to need to find a ten year old kid to figure it out I guess.

Any possibility I could fax it?
