Am am excited about restoring some deck-rot in my 1991 16' Stratos. After laminating the deck I want to add some texture to the white paint. Does anyone have some thoughts on what I can use? Is non-skid or additive a good idea? Thank you in advance.

Re: New deck

If you choose Durabak just be sure to prep the substrate correctly. There was a poster here who was doing an extensive restoration on a small cabin boat that used it. I do not remember if he followed up. He used Durabak as a coating all over the inside of the boat he was working on. It ended up peeling up and coming off in large sheets. I do not think it was the fault of the product but something that happened during the prep. I'll see if I can find the thread.

Re: New deck

I have a special paint we use here at work that is an epoxy with non-skid material in it..

I have also heard of spreading fine sand on the deck on a wet coat of paint, then one more coat...

Re: New deck

Thanks for the links guys. I guess another question is what can I do for the casting deck? It seems solid, but I would like to remove the carpet and hatch doors and glass another mat or two. Is this overkill or do I need to go ahead and paint this area?

I will post photos later.
