New (different) carb?

I'm having carb issues with my 1993 Weber 4 bbl on my 350 5.7 Merc. Question is, instead of sending it out for a rebuild, am I better off getting a new (more modern) one? Are newer (as in more modern, not neccesarily "new") ones better, more efficient, etc.? Or am I limited to what I have due to the engine itself? Thanks in advance.

If the answer is yes, not a bad idea to replace my current carb, recommendations will be appreciated.

I don't know if your carb is any good of course - it may be fine and easily rebuilt or it may be worn out.

IF you decide to buy a new one, I like the Edlebrock marine carb - you can buy one at various places - including Jegs and Summit Racing.

Ayuh,... The Weber you have is the Latest,+ Greatest 4bbl. carb from Mercruiser....
It's an Exact copy of the Edlebrock Performer mentioned by Mark as a replacement,...
Both of which are copies of the Carter AFB carb,...

Btw,... When you Rebuild it,... Buy Edlebrock parts,... They're Cheaper,+ Easier to get...

If you're mechanically inclined at all I would attempt to rebuild it......it's not that hard of a job on that carb.
