new drive shaft length wrong?

hey all. i have an 81 stinray svb175 with a 120 mercruiser sterdrive. i bought a new drive shaft yoke for my boat. the one that slides into coupler. got it in the mail today. turns out the shaft is longer then the old one. is this an update to the one i have? i cant find anywhere where diffent length shafts are sold.

Ayuh,... As far as I know, the drive won't go All the way on, as the shaft will bottom out in the coupler....
Send it back to where ya got it, 'n order the Right 1....
