For some months, I had a couple of post seeking help for the beep...beep...beep on both my 200HP OffShore Mercury engines. All the great input helped me get to a final determination, take it to a mechanic since I had gone through everything else I was capable of doing. His news was both motors had their oil injectors go bad (the internal gear drive went bad) and that would be $2,000 for the cost of a plastic gear and tearing your engines down.
I had seen an earlier post regarding a new electronic injector which you (me) could install yourself for a fraction of the cost and the motor would not have to be torn down. I contacted Bob with Marine Solutions, www.marinesolutionswi.com and he worked with me in getting two of his injector units. He has great instructions for installations and after about two hours on one engine, my son and I had one installed. The next day we put the other one on in just over an hour. Most of the work detailed checking the wire connection and making sure all the nuts and bolts were tight. Guys...these things work GREAT!!!!! No more beeps and the engines are performing back to their original style. I don't normally endorse many products, but here are the facts...I saved a lot of money and now have something I believe is more reliable than the Mercury solution; my engines are still intact and did not get torn down; my son and I worked together in quality time to put these on and the support I got from Bob was unquestionably the best I have ever seen from anyone. This guy called me to check on the status of the install at least 6-7 times with one being while he was on his wedding anniversary trip. I called him on his cell a couple of times for a question and he ALWAYS took my call.
If you have an injector issue on a Mercury engine, I strongly suggest you check out this product. Feel free to email me at rdonald22@bellsouth.net. I'll be glad to answer any questions for you.
