Hello Every One,
First off I hope your weekend is going well and you are out soakin up some sun.
Now after tossing the idea and checking the hull out on the old Family boat, ('61 Buehler Turbocraft), it is decided to restore her. The orginal engine is just not going to work. It was a 225 slant 6 chrysler. Now that engine in a marine application is the most odd ball thing, I haven't seen any and getting a new marine intake for it isn't happening. My father new the old one couldn't be fixed so he hauled it off with some scrap (DOH!). Any way the search is on for a repower. We are not concerned about originality, only functionality. The engine compartment is narrow so it will have to be an inline engine. The boat is 15' 9", the 225 was rated at 150hp. So I need an engine with the carb and exhaust on the port side of the engine. Now I have narrowed it down to a 3.0L Mercruiser which is 130 h.p. and I also can get a SEA DOO 130hp, jet ski engine, which is a small package and will fit just fine, but I worry if it will have the torque. I can get the drive shaft made to fit either engine.
Any Thoughts?
