Hey guys I just picked up an omc 2.5 inline 4 motor and outdrive. I have a silverline aruba, that I believe originally came with an inline 6. So my question is, how hard is it going to be to get the 4 in there. The motor is complete from oil pan to spark arrester and has all of the mounts, so do I just need to glass in some wood for the mounts and drop it in? Or would you guys take it to a boat shop and just let them do everything? Thanks.

Re: new engine

Howdy,

First of all, I don't think there's a lot of us here that can picture what a "Silverline Aruba" is. how long it is or what it weighs.

Just off the top of my head, if that boat originally came with an inline 6 (150/160/165/190 hp ) 6 cyl engine, it may not even plane with a 2.5L engine installed unless you only have one person, and 1/4 fuel etc......

As far as installation. You'll have to fab a front mount. using normal fiberglass techniques. There is a restoration section here on iBoats where people dream about that stuff every night!

Ayuh,.. Are you installing the Complete motor, 'n drive,..??

You'll need to fit it with Whatever it needs as far as glassin' or cuttin'...

There's no secret tricks, 'n it won't jump in by itself...
That's an Unknown refit, so you've gotta wing it...
