So this is the new prop I'm thinking of buying for my 100 hp Evinrude motor. I have an older Starfire 100-S 2 stroke 100 hp Evinrude that I put on my 24 ft. Lowe Pontoon boat. So reading a lot of posts over the past year I see most people are suggesting a 17 pitch for my size boat. So I thought i'd get everyones take on this before I went ahead and spend $100. I've heard quite a few of you say that iboats is a great place to buy props just because of how polite and helpful they are whether it be customer service or returning a prop just because of it's performance. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to comment. Thank You

Re: New Evinrude Prop

What pitch prop are you currently running, and what is your wot rpm? You will need this information to guide you with your prop selection.

17P four blade seems like too much for a 100hp engine on a 24' pontoon to me.

+1 for phebus1.... Maybe you should reread all of those posts because 17 will definitelly be too much. An 11 or 13 pitch will be what you want. And if I had to choose between those two with no other data, I would choose the 11.

Re: New Evinrude Prop

So many seem to keep the year of the rig a secret.
I think you mean starflite??If its from the 60s. I think the gear ratio is 1.75 and a 17 is too much.
Biggest prop was an 18. A pontoon isn't likely to use a prop one below the max.If you want us to help with your selection we'll need to know year of your motor, present prop and the wot rpm and speed by gps if possible.

Re: New Evinrude Prop

Oops, my bad yes it is a starflite and it supposedly is a 1971, but I think it's more like a 1969. The prop that currently is on it is totally chipped off and unusable. I just bought it and getting it worked on and overhauled at the moment. I didn't read the posts right either when I said 17 pitch, i meant 13. It says on the motor though that the rpm should run around 5500.

I'm pretty sure the 100 is a 71.Pretty sure no 100 in 69,70.
A 13" prop seems reasonable. But you need a gps and a tach to be sure the motor is within its rated rpm range.Max wot rpm is 5,500.

Re: New Evinrude Prop

looking forward to your results.
By the way I think this is more a prop topic than a pontoon topic.
I think you will get more help with your results if you post in the prop section with all your boat/motor details and your results.
