So I took the plunge and sprung for a new trolling motor and fishfinder.
I got the:
Minn Kota PowerDrive V2 70/US2/i-Pilot with a 60" shaft and removable mount.
Humminbird 798 ci HD SI Combo.
I'm as jazzed as a kid at Christmas.
Now the weather just has to give me a good day so I can put them in.
