hello guys. i just bought a 2001 180 four winns with a v6 volvo penta and i am picking it up on tuesday. now i just want to know whats the top speed i should get, is it too rough on the waves like baylineres? or its soft. and are these god boats? thank you veryy much.

That should be a pretty nice boat.

I'd woudl guess that it should run about 50 mph maybe a little less.

Whether or not it is smooth on waves is pretty subjective. You may think that it rides rough. However, any boat will feel waves that are decent sized. Is it a better boat that a Bayliner? Yes, in a lot of ways.

Congrats.

I just bought a 2003 Four Winns Freedom 180 with the 4.3 Volvo (190hp).

Took it in the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday (had some storms early but was really pretty calm as far as the waves went) and I had 8 people on board (3 kids, but 3 guys 200 ea, full tank of gas (32 gal) and I had it going 42.

I did have a new stainless prop (boat came with an aluminum that was ok, but needed to be reconditioned.

I am thinking I can get a better top speed without the weight.

Boat rode smooth and got on plane fairly quick.

Without seeing a picture of your boat, I'd say a Four Winns used to have one of the deepest vee's made, meaning the smoothest ride on rough water, and strongly made, meaning a bit heavy, for a pretty stable ride as well! I'd guess lightly loaded it should do about 50mph, Good Luck, Mike

thanks alot guys. did a test drive and it did 46 on pretty big waves full thanks of gas and 3 guys inside. and it was very smooth. i had a bayliner then wellcraft then stingray then this one and i can say from now on this brand is going to be my boat. thank you all.
