New Gas Tank Location

I have a 1996 deck boat with a 150 merc carbed outboard. The boat has a 55 gal below deck tank. The tank has a ton of trash in it and is in poor shape. There is room on the boat to mount a smaller 22 gal tank above deck in the rear of the boat. If I mount the a new tank above deck the fuel level will be higher than the carbs. Will i run into any issues with siphoning after the motor is shut down since the fuel level is above the carbs or will the float and needle valve prevent that.
