hey guys. looking to replace old gauges and add some new. currently only have a tach and fuel. tach looks like it bypasses control box and straight to motor. not sure why.
anyway, the motor is a 73 evinrude 115 and in addition to the tach and fuel gauges, i'm looking to add a temperature gauge (motor does not have a sender). can anybody recommend a temp kit and tach for this motor? will any tach work? i'd like all the gauges to be uniform.
thanks for the help.

Re: new gauges

Tachs are generic but you cannot use an automotive tach if that thought crossed your mind. The tach signal wire (sense or "S" terminal) on the tach is the only wire that originates via the engine harness. All other gauges are not engine dependent. Temp gauges require an OUTBOARD sender with 33 - 240 ohms resistance range. Both the gauge and sender kit are available from Faria/Teleflex. If your engine does not have a tell tale, you might consider adding a water pressure gauge as well to provide a visual means of telling if the water pump is working.

Re: new gauges

thanks for the info. the motor doesn't have a tell-tale......but not sure i want to install both. my thinking is i can always walk back and visually check the water flow. it may not tell me whether the flow is good or not but it will let me know if the pump is out. maybe in the future i can add a pressure gauge.
i've looked at both faria and teleflex and for some reason, am having trouble finding a matching set.
