I posted up in February about my grill burning up due to a manufacturing defect, We got things sorted out and the new grill I got is by Char Broil and uses an "infrared" cooking system. It cooks at a very high temperature and has plates under the rack to distribute the heat. All I can say is after getting used to the hi temp cooking this grill is the best. 1" steaks are done in about 6 to 8 min and you can't burn them ! I love to grill and we do about 5 nights a week in the summertime . The "Infrared" system works very well as long as you season the grill per the instructions , Cleaning takes about 10 min a week. The fun part is is smokes like crazy while cooking , Really makes the neighbors think you burn everything ! But if it is smoking it is cooking perfectly !
For those of you who love to grill one of these "infrared" grills are for you !!

Re: New Grill

Hmmmm I have an infrared panel in the back of mine for rotisserie use but It is on a separate control. Are you saying your panels are below the food? Did it come with special cleaning instructions??? I imagine it would clog......

BTW glad you got a good replacement!

Wow..... I just looked at the web site....very interesting.....

They now make a small one with nothing but infrared surfaces to grill over. the inlaws have it and its great. Going to get one soon. About $270 at Lowes. Smaller than most but plenty big for a family and beacuse it cooks fast big enough for parties.

Surrender , I have the same grill as your inlaws (commercial urban model ) , I take the warming rack out and only use it as needed and can cook 8 steaks on the grill no problem . It is square instead of rectangular but the cooking surface is very big ... BUY ONE!

Re: New Grill

One time I had a grill explode on me. It shot glass at me like bird shot. Luckily the glass was safety glass and the explosion was very mild and no one got hurt. I was still living with my parents at the time and my Dad was inside laughing his *** off.
