New guy, first time buying....

Greetings, this is my first time on iboats (and I'm a fairly novice boater, some minor experience in the past with small runabouts)...this looks to be a great informational site...Would like to ask for some expert advice when buying a "new-to-me" used boat...specifically a 1980 Chris Craft Scorpion VF 211 Outboard.

Some background... I'm looking to buy a good used multi-purpose boat for family cruising / fishing / possibly skiing or tubing. I'm currently looking at the above mentioned boat, it has a newer (1995) 200HP Johnson Ocean runner on a bracket and the ad mentions a V20 upgrade. I'd be using the boat primarily in the Chesapeake Bay area.

Does anyone have any experience with this model of boat, and are there any major "gotcha's" I should be looking for when inspecting the boat? Anyone know what the V-20 upgrade is? The owner is asking $4000, is that a decent price given standard wear and tear? Any and all advice is much appreciated...Thanks for your time!

Welcome to I-Boats. The hull design is a good one, handles rough water well. You might check NADA for pricing. But if in good shape its up to you. Might want to get it surveyed.

Windy, thanks for the advice, price looked good, but updated pics from the owner showed far to many stress cracks in the hull for my comfort....so the search continues...thanks again...
