Can a closed bow older aluminum boat be redone in an open bow cofigiration or is the closed bow part of the hull strength? Just curious so if I come across a closed bow I know what my options are. Thanks

Take a look through the restoration threads, there have been a few over the years that have done exactly what you are asking about, there have even been some that made their boat longer because they wanted a bigger boat!

It can be done, and see the resto threads as suggested. Remember though, that unless you are able to build a boat full time, a restoration that involves a 'bowectomy', if done on evenings and weekends, is often a year long job.. Waiting and looking for a few more months for the basic configuration you want is proabably the better bet.
