Hello All, I would just like like to say hello to all. My dad and I have just bought our first fishing boat! We are very excited to start this project. We are not to sure on the exact model, if anyone knows that would be nice to know. It is a 1973 24' has a 1989-93 volvo penta v8 i haven't been able to pinpoint the year but i know the model i guess is a 570a. The outdrive is a volvo 290 duoprop. I have been getting frustrated trying to find out the exact model and year of the outdrive so we can get ourselves a service manual. Is there anyway i can ever find that out? all the stickers and a plate have been rusted off. the olny thing i have on it is a number on the zinc bar underneath. i will post a picture of that. do i absolutely need to know the year and model to find a manual for it. most people tell me that the manuals are all universal and such. i don't know. i'm about ready to just start tearing that thing off. The boat is in pretty good condition. hull is perfect, inside and out. paint is fine, windows are good. aluminum is done for but thats fine. the wood needs to be restored. i will see about the electronics when i get a battery. thats another question i have. do i need to get a specific battery for the type of engine i have? anyway i wanted to say hello to everyone and see what people had to say about my boat.
