G'day all.
First off, Ive been lurking for quite some time, and I figured I might as well come out an introduce myself.
I'm HyperFox, from up here in CFB Petawawa, Ontario. I'm a serviceman myself, and have recently acquired a boat, motor, and trailer from a friend who couldn't take it with him when he got posted to another base.
So here I have a mystery boat, Ive spent most of this part of the winter tuning up the engine, wiring, and replacing some of the plywood on the boat, making up some mounts and stuff. Also just finished a carpeted deck board.. .I'm hoping the first launch will be this spring.
Which leads me to registration. I don't have questions about this process, its pretty simple here, what I do hope you all can help me with is identifying the boat.
The original Data plate is badly sun bleached, and has some nicks from a lot of use, but here is the numbers and what I can make out.
DOT113804 35 ALUMINUM BOATS INC
960 14' ELGIN
Now, I know the 35 is the maximum power. The boat has an Evinrude 35 on it, a '79 I believe.
960 is the maximum weight.
Aluminum boats INC is most likely the make...
14' Elgin is the model as far as I can tell.
Now. My main one is, the DOT# is that the Serial number of the boat?
The there is an old decal on port and starboard that says Sears.. I think.. Its kinda worn out.. It is an unpainted boat, has a windshield, bench seat, and two seats up front. It also has a steering wheel, drive control, and throttle, electric ignition switch and choke, and windshield.
