Well, after the ordeal with the buzzards tearing my seats up, I'm biting the bullet and getting a boathouse built for the toon and whaler.... I was going to build a garage but decided on the 2 slip boathouse instead.

Well they started driving piles....12 of the 30 required...after piles are driven they'll be installing 2x10 ties top/bottom and 3x8 floor joists and 2x8 ceiling joists - which they should be done by this weekend...then I'll start on the bulkhead before decking.

that's a seriously nice upgrade. nothing easier than jumping in and hitting the key to take the boat out.

Why not a floating boat house? Don't you get a lot of lake level changes? My sister lives in Texas and she is always complaining that its to wet or to dry.

our lake is normally a "constant level lake" at 131.00ft. We will get high water 1-2 times a year when Dallas,TX floods...but they do a pretty good job of controling it here lately....

as far as no water, that's only happened 1 in the last 10 years or so..and that was due to hurrican Rita damaging the dam...

most of the time the water stays at 131.00 or 6" below or above

Dang, that is one bassy cove. Wish my lake fluctuated so little. We are 20 feet low and dropping, and it ain't just cause of the drought. Normal winter pool is 17 feet below.

The piling crew is almost done. Had to have them remove and re-set 2 posts that were out of line. The top 2x8's aren't done yet and they have to re-do those as they don't stick out far enough. I also had to have them make the step down on the middle section as they didn't do that..Other than that they've really done a good job.
