New Horizon 180 Question

I just got a 2007 Four Winns Horizon 180 (actually won the boat) and I've noticed one thing that's causing a little frustration and wondering if anyone had any advice. I have some fenders to protect the boat when docked, but the location of the four cleats on the boat are not at the widest part, especially at the bow. So if the fenders are attached to the cleats, they don't hit the dock before the hull would. Any suggestions? Here is a stock picture (not my boat) that gives you a good idea of where the cleats are located:

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciate. Also, any advice for a new boat owner would be great as well.

Re: New Horizon 180 Question

Stay away from Four Winns and Volvo Engines. I bought a new 2008 Horizon 180 and every other time I use it, something breaks. Radio, speakers, top, engine cover, trim switch. Small stuff at first, but now impeller goes out and runs hot, power steering pump fails and leaks everywhere, and now throttle cable just snaps in the middle of the lake. As I was holding throttle open manually, noticed bolts just vibrating out of engine. Four Winns name came from a contest, if you can use it 4 times (and you can't) without something breaking, you must win something. If you like being stranded in the water, this is the boat for you. Yea it is under warranty, but it don't help you when you are paddling and have to take it back all the time. If you must get one, see about having ores installed on each side and keep a strong rope on board.

Re: New Horizon 180 Question

Thanks for the message again, Honeyz, but we got it the first time.

Deers, that's a little weird. With our setup, we have mooring whips, which keeps the boat away at all times, but our extra fenders all seem to do the right job too. I don't know what else to share.

On another note, you WON the boat? Do tell!
