I just got the ICOM hooked up to the Lowrance LMS480. Looks like my postiton is scrolling across the radio screen. I have put in my MMSI number. Is there an acceptable way to test the system? I'm new with the VHF, and don't want to do this the wrong way.

As always, thanks for the help!

Yes... you can request a radio check from the coast guard, or use the polling feature on your radio to scan for other dcs radio's in range, and ask them to verify your co-ordinates and mmsi#.

Jim

Polling feature? Is that like a DSC "all ships call"? Or is it a DSC "watch"?

Don't know the specific name for your brand... what it does is scans for dcs radios in range, I,m guessing it is watch on your unit.

Jim

Re: New Icom302 DSC

Thanks for the help. My coastal trips will happen closer to fall, I'll try it then. I doubt that anyone on the local lake I use even has a vhf.

Any Icom-M302 owners out there?
