I just installed a new impeller water pump rebuild kit in my 2005 Johnson 90 horse to put it back together when trolling for 3 hours worked fine took it out a week later and it does not pump water through the peephole. I've taken apart twice and cannot find any problems I hope they hoes to the intake type and it sprays water for the telltale hole still will not pump water what could be the problem?

Try removing the small tube at the telltale plastic fitting. The fitting might be clogged. Make sure to give it enough time to finish circulating before you see the stream flowing out.

I hooked a hose up to the underside if the motor to the white pick up hose and it sprayed the water out of the telltale. I am totally lost on this one!!!!

The tell tale fitting in the block or the hose it self may be clogged up. Run a wire up it and see what happens. Do this when the motor is running on the muffs.

It may still be clogged even if I hooked a hose up underneath and pushed water through the telltale?

I would not try messin' with the fitting with the engine running, no need for that. Did water come out of the rubber tube with the engine running? There's two inlets on the plastic fitting, one is capped. The hole is a bit larger, and not plugged. Put the small rubber tube on that one.

not sure what other tube you are talking about. I am at a loss of what to do! I dropped it off at a marina, but they are not johnson mechanics. he said he will take a look at it, I didn't feel to confident !!!!!

A big tube that goes nowhere, and a small tube. The small tube is where the telltale water exits.

Remove that small tube from the fitting, start the motor, and look to see if a stream of water exits the small tube. If water does exit the small tube, see another outlet fitting with a cap on it. Install the small tube on that outlet. If water is coming out of that outlet it means the small outlet is plugged. Poke a wire down the small outlet hole to remove the clog.

It is common for debris to clog the small outlet.
