Take a look at this lil puppy. Sulzer ship's engine
My son in UK sent this to me a couple of days back. I think he was hoping too much that I could fit it into my boat.

Regards
Peter F

"Honey, I'll be back in a few days. I'm going to the store to get oil and a filter, so I can change the oil on the tractor". :D

Now, when these guys say they need oversized rings, they really mean it.

Good thing diesels don't use spark plugs!
I wonder how big the glow plugs are(if it has any).
What kind of starting system could they use to get that behemoth started up? Another big diesel engine for a starter? What must the compression be? Wow

Re: New inboard engine!!

Hi all,
Most of these ships engines use compressed air at about 3000psi timed & shot straight into the cylinder to crank them over. No gearbox used.
They change over the valve timing and reverse the engine rotation to go astern.
Different world with these things isnt it.

Regards
Peter
