Hi. I have just recently acquired a 2.9 inflatible dinghy with a wooden floor and inflatible keel. The maxium engine size recommended is 9.9 hp. Having seen one recently, they look extremely large for the above dinghy. What size engine could you recommened for some good safe, summer fun e.g towing a small donut?

It wants to be clean, quiet, reliable, economical and light to carry. (Not second hand). We are not mechanically minded so reliablitly is a must.

Thank you for your help,

Abbo.

You will need every one of those 9.9 hp's if you want to pull a tube. I'm not even sure it can do it.

As for the outboard, any of the major brands are fine. Two stroke motors (oil/gas mix) are lighter and cheaper to purchase than four strokes (straight gas). Four strokes are usually quieter. Neither will use much gas so that isn't really a concern.

9.9 2 stroke in my humble opinion for the weight factor.
