Re: New Jersey Boat Works

Well we considered it......but forums for individual States and Other places just would not be right. Keeping everything consolidated the present way seems to work. If a person in NJ has a question and posted it in a NJ boater's forum just how many forums do people need to read to assist?

Welcome to iboats where we have over 2.4 million posts! (even a few from NJ ;) )

You would be absolutely amazed at how effective filling out your profile to include your location.

I think with this being the best internet boating site with just about everything you need...... we like to keep things together.

I will move this to the proper section to get a response. You originally posted this in the "manufacturer's forum"

How about a forum for Jersey boat owners? (NJB)

Thanks,

Bill

You could start a thread in the "Boating, Activities and Destinations" section. There's already an active thread for the upper Chesapeake.

Re: New Jersey Boat Works

Hi Guys,

New Jersey Boat Works was a builder of 40' and 44' Jersey Sportfishermen, not a place. Transom logo included in the number was NJB.

Here is a picture of my 1979 Jersey Dawn Executive. Just trying to hookup with some fellow Jersey owners.

Thanks,

Bill

Big Fish Billy......Try going to Noreast.com, plenty of Jersey guys on there as well as NY, CT and RI, as the name of the site suggests. Great site, not taking anything away from iboats though, iboats is always the best.

Nice looking boat.
The only thing I could comment about them is that they used fiberglass fuel tanks for at least a number of years in the early '70's & the C.G. & insurance companies didn't like that as the tanks tended to 'weep' gasoline on the outsides. Otherwise, have never heard a negative thing.

Yes Jersey, ChrisCraft, Bertram and a good many others used a particular resin from a manufacturer that hasn't agreed with the Ethanol additive. This wasn't used on a consistant basis, and most folks have taken a wait and see approach to changing them out. My buddy Ken, also with a 1979 40' Jersey Dawn was the first to have his port engine intake valves seize and bend some push rods. Upon that incident I planned to change my tanks that same fall. (2008) Unfortuanately my Kohler Genset stuck an intake valve and bent a rod as well. The generator repair was $900, and I replaced my tanks with 1/4" aluminum, did the work myself and figured it was about $5,000 for the 2, 200 gallon tanks plus other materials I needed. But as you mentioned, that is the only negative. We had a great summer this last year, the Jerseys are a great heavy ocean cruiser. If you know some fellow Jersey owners, please head them this way.

Thanks,

Bill
