new lu and still nothing whats wrong?

lower unit went bad i think was leaking and a lot of metal shavings and would act like it was not it gear, so i got another one and the water pump is not working its new, and will not go into gear i made sure every thing was lined up so what else could it be? is there anything on the top of the motor to cause this to happen also? its a 82 mariner 80hp with a mercury lu now

Splines in the bottom o f the crankshaft corroded out?

found my problem the guy at the boat shop sold me a shot shaft when i needed a long, but all is good 4 now he swaped them out now we will see when it hits the water hope it does ok its almost made me sick of boating

ok put this one on was all gun ho, reverse works good had forward 4 about 30 secs. then nothing but reverse,i am getting so feed up with this boat shop, so i am taking the whole boat to them and i dont think i should have to pay a dime to them. 2 trips 1 and half hours away one way and now i got to pull the boat up,thought i would save 50 bucks and go to them, now its costing me 100 bucks in fuel
