New Mechanical Fuel Pump comes with 3 gaskets??

I’m in the process of replacing the mechanical fuel pump on my Merc 230 4 Bbl GM 305 engine. The new fuel pump I ordered includes 3 identical gaskets in the box. The old pump only had one gasket on it that goes between the pump and the mounting bracket. Why would they send 3 gaskets with a new fuel pump??

Some motors used spacer plates, if your pump arm is the same length just use one gasket as before
