Hello, thanks for letting me join!
I recently bought a tiller controlled 99’ Mercury 25 hp. I would like to add remote throttle/shift to it. I have been pouring over the internet but can’t seem to find what I would need by application. I presume that like the OMC that I am used to the control is sold separately from the cables. This boat had a primer button, which if I understand correctly gives a shot of gas into the carb, does it also choke? Would I need a servo or something to make that work? I have seen the suggestion of “gen 2” controls but when I look them up I see some listings from 2003 up. Somewhere I had a control from a late 80’s Mariner 25, but I can’t seem to find it. I don’t know if it would be adaptable or not. I am looking to put this motor on my 63’ Lonestar Malibu, which has cable steering, that seems adaptable, but the controls have me stumped.
Advice on specifically what I need to be looking for would be greatly appreciated, I am new to Mercury so please bear with me.
