New Merc Outboard

I am going to repower my boat this fall or early next spring with a new 75hp Mercury. I currently have a 1985 75hp. Will there be and difference in preformance and weight?

G'day. Merc brought out the 3 Cyl in 1986, Your old motor may ba a 3 Cyl or a 4 cyl. If your old motor is a 4Cyl the new 75HP will run rings around it, However if your old motor is a 3 Cyl then they are a similar motor, however Merc hav made many changes since 1985, More cubes, better corrosion protection just to name a few. you wont be disapointed with the new merc 75.

G'Day. The 3 Cyl motors are much better, "running rings around" is Aussie slang that means will outperform. Sorry to confuse you.
