New min kota.

Okay i have a new minkota with 50 lbs of thrust it is brand new. On a battery how long should i be able to run at trolling speed with a little 14 foot aluminum

Impossibleto tell since you didn't tell us what the battery capacity is. Trolling speed means different things to different people. About the only calculation you can make is the MINIMUM run time rather than MAXIMUM run time. A 50# thrust motor draws about 42 amps at maximum speed. A group size 27 deep cycle battery has a reserve capacity of about 170 minutes at 23 amp draw. Since your motor draws nearly twice that the run time would be 1/2 the reserve capacity or about 85 minutes. If you run at slower speeds time will increase but just because you run at 1/2 maximum speed does not mean you run twice as long. It all depends on the size of the boat, the load, the wind, and water conditions.

I have a minn kota ap 55 on a 14' alum. I troll at 1 to 1.5 mph for more than 5 hours and still have plenty left in a 29 series deep cycle. I try not to pull down the battery voltage below 12.4 volts before recharge.
