Now its not peanuts or monkeys but you may smile , take sidelong glances and say I told you so's ..Ok got my new 2004 Yamaha 90 2 stroke rigged on the Boston Whaler New 704 control Key switch..ready to gpo and when shifting into forward the prop will not lock up. turn it to the left and its locked, turn it right it click clicks off the dog . In Reverse it locks up, Nutral is Ok. Yes I know how to adjust the controlas..grin! Have had motor cables on and on plenty of times. Undoing the shift cable and manually pushing the shift all the way to the stop (yes turning the prop) and still not positive lock up. I figured that the motor was not running .. needs the crank turning,, burrs ect new.. So I fired her up tonight for the first time. Ideled a good 15 minutes and went out. shifted reverse and good to go, nutral no problem ..would it click in forward.. No engaged good to go. went out powerhead seemed running rough a bit vibration, good motor sound deep throated kind of sound, keeping speed down below 3000 RPM got up on plane and felt a vibration the hole time. Motor is on tight, prop on correct at 25ft lbs on a torque wrench. Just does not feel right to me. ran about 15 minutes back in. No grinding noises but the vibration is not right. Back in checked to see if lower unit is locking up right.. Reverse again good, nutral good, forward, still not locking up when you turn prop to right. Now theres no grinding noise or clicking when running.. I suspect that the lower unit is not shimmed properly.. from get go.or is more break in needed.. I dont think so.Motor is set so cativation plate is about 1/2 inch below hull. No dings on prop. Its a Yamaha 13 1/4 X 17.<br />Should I give another test run or take it back to the dealer. Bought new in the crate its rigged now and they will have to deal with it on the boat.Yea I know ..when they get to it...
