New motor with a few questions 85 force 50

This motor is totally diff from my old one so I have some dumb questions.
1985 Force 50
1. How do I do a spark test? My old boat never had a starting problem so I never had to do one.

2. I have a keyed ignition. If I turn the key back does that shut off the motor? I do no see a kill switch any where so I am not sure if I even have one.

3. ..the really dumb one.. how do the throttle and shifting cables hook up on this motor. My last one was simple but this one is stumping me a bit.

1)Put a timing light on the spark plug lead, and look for the flash

2)Yes, the key is the only kill switch

3) The end of the cable at the motor has a spring loaded metal collar, just grab it, and pull it back a little, and lift the cable off the little ball end on the motor, reverse this to put the cable on. It is a little bit of a pain to do, but really very simple once you get the hang of it

Is there another way to test it. You know, a 'ghetto rig' way of doing it? I have heard some people say that they hold the wire about 1/4" away from the plug and see if it sparks. Does this work?

Does anyone have a picture of their motor showing the different sides with the cap off just so I can get a good idea of what all it should look like?... it was stripped down when I got it and just have these last few things to do
