Hi, guys!
After very interesting discussions in my topic ?Absolutely new?, where I have got A LOT of very important information, I bought the boat!! Very first boat in my life! Coast me $ 3500.Wife is happy:p
1989 Bayliner Ciera 2455 in (as I guess) good shape.
No damages, no scratches, all lights are shining in and out. Volvo-penta 305 c.i.
Started from first kick. Oil pressure good, outboard OMC not noisy. Trailer with breaks, lights, and new tires.
Inside normal dust and wearing for 20 y.o. boat. BUT?.it?s everywhere these buts?:D
Question 1: owner stared engine from portable tank, because (as I?ve been told)
There is some gas in the boat tank, the boat have been seated on trailer in last 2 years.
How I can clean the tank on the boat, to avoid dismount the tank from the boat?
Any chemicals? Or just pump gas out?
Question 2: I have to fix bilge blower. I think, it?s better to replace it by new from eBay.
What kind of blower I have to buy? 125,450 or 4500 cfm?
Question 3: I have read on iBoats, that outboard OMC will make a lot of problem.
What I have to do to avoid major problems, and what they are?
there are photos.
After i`ll clean everything up, I`ll post more photos.
Guys, thank you for your attantion and time in advance,
Alex.

Re: New old Bayliner 2455

1. Start by pumping or siphoning the gas out.

2. How about patronizing the company that is providing you this forum for free? Choose one here that matches the diameter of your current hose. Most feel that squirrel-cage blowers are superior to inlines; I can't verify this personally as I've never owned a boat with a blower.

3. Is it a Volvo-Penta or an OMC Cobra? I can't tell from the photo- the drive appears to have been repainted recently and the picture is too small. Any nameplate on the outdrive?

to NYBo:
Than you for your help.
I saw that on motor(on upper cover)- Volvo Penta 5.0L
and some more about Volvo.
But outdrive has no any marks(as you saw-fresh painted).I asked owner and the answer-OMC.
Unfortunately,I`m in Texas with my truck, but the boat in Florida. When willcome backhome, willmake good
photos. So could it be OMC or Volvo?may be he makes mistake, because he is son of owner and sold the boat for blind daddy.

Re: New old Bayliner 2455

Bayliners of that era usually had OMC outdrives, and the overall shape looks about right, so I would guess that's what it has. But it sounds like that's not the original engine since the outdrive and engine were installed as a matched set. A LOT can happen to a boat in 22 years. Not a major problem; they are both marinized Chevrolet smallblocks anyway.

Tnkx!
But what about gas?
They told me on marina, that I must use only "non ethanol gas".
Why I can`t use gas from gas station, like for my car or truck?
what is the problem for the boat or engine?
