I was going to wait until I moved before taking on another project but I could not help myself when this old river runner came up for sale fairly cheap. A 1971 19 ft Kenner FisinSki Barge or Bluffer that looks every bit her age. I wanted another Starcraft Aluminum to make a river boat out of but there just wan't one around so I bought the fiberglass ski barge . I live across from the Sacramento River so the need for a river boat . Someone already replaced the deck and the transom seems sound so a little cosmetic fiberglass repair and sanding and I will be ready to remove the outboard and center console and flip her over belly up for a new paint job. I was going to re gel coat the hull but I heard that the 2 stage paints are better and look good longer and I'm sure they have got to be easier to spray on than gel coat because of the set time of 10 minutes .
Aside from using some black 2 stage paint from a local Tractor place I have no knowledge of what paint is good or bad so I'm asking for you all's experience with the paints before I get froggy and shoot something on that isn't going to do a good job. Any experience with metal flake ?? thanks A.B.
