Just bought a NOS carb for my 95 9.9 since the previous owner couldn't get it to idle. I found the idle issue, someone damaged the idle tube under the welch plug. They mangled up the end of tube and it's bent opposite of high speed nozzle.

Do you think I should change out the gaskets using the ones I put on original one or order a complete new kit? The carb is 20 yrd old!

Also, does anybody think I could clean up the end of tube with a little sanding to remove burr and try to straighten it up?

Thanks
James

Are you wondering if you should gut a NOS carb and replace the gaskets? Why?

jimmbo, I just bought one off ebay. As boat sits now it won't idle I believe due to damage to idle tube damaged. I've gone thru carb twice even shooting alcohol thru it like manual shows.

Which carb is not idling well, the NOS(?) carb from ebay, or the one that came with the engine?

jimmbo, the original carb will mot idle. I think the damage to the idle tube is the issue. Haven't got nos carb yet.

the NOS carb is 23 years old. I would get a gasket kit.
