i'm thinking about buying a new outboard ,but i'm undecided between a 2010 tohatsu 15hp 4 stroke, or the nissan 2010 15hp 4 stroke, which do you think is a better motor, and which is easier to fix..........thanks

Re: new outboard

I thought 4-strokes were the way to go until I found out what outrageous maintenance requirements they had, plus how heavy they were.

To answer your question, they both are about the same. In other words, neither will be easy to work on.

If you really want a good 15 HP that will use little fuel and go real fast, buy a 2-stroke.

Those engines are identical except for the paint and labels.

Good engines.

Four strokes will seem hard to maintain to folks who have no experience with them.

Most important, you can use them where 2 stroke carbed outboards are banned and where they will be banned in the future.

As stated Nissan and Tohatsu are the same. They use the "appropriate" names for different markets, although, the motors are the same.
