hey guys looked up a new outdrive for my 82 mercruiser 228 in the flashing box at the top and it came up with a vender199 new outdrive for $1195.00.
Has anyone ventured into getting one from them and if so have you had any problems? They offer the complete unit for 1195 with a three year warranty!!!The local boat shop wants $1200.00 to rebuild mine!!!I like to buy local but if i can save 5 bucks and get a whole new assembly why not?Are they sharp with customer service after the sale?Does the unit come with new trim tilt rams like in the picture?I called the 800 number to talk to them and they assurred me that they were #1 in CS but one thing i learned through the years NEVER trust a salesman!

I installed one on my boat three years ago or so. They are made by Sterndrive Engineering - I picked mine up local, but it is the same outfit.

Very happy with it and cannot beat the price.

I've had issues with the paint on mine, but I think they changed what they did a couple of years ago. Mechanically, no problems at all.

Did you factor freight into your cost? I reckon you'll end up spending a few extra bucks by the time you get done paying shipping, but you'd be paying tax on it if you have your old one repaired, so it'll probably cost pretty close to the same. I plan on just replacing mine if/when it goes...

Be sure to come back and let us know how it works for you!

Re: new outdrive????

Running an SE106 (Sterndrive Engineering Alpha I replacement) for the second year this summer with no problems whatsoever. Works as good (if not better...) than my original Alpha I from Merc...
