Are these motors good? I just traded it even for my 2000 Yamaha 9.9. The guy wants to fish local lakes and I like to go bay fishing where the 9.9 was just too slow. The merc is a longshaft with E-start & pull start! Will it be ok to run the motor for a week while i'm on vacation with no thermostat? Wasn't expecting a new motor but fould the ad on CL for the swap so I jumped on it. When I was going over it at home I found the thermostat was stuck closed and didn't want to cook the engine, so I just removed it and it pumps excellent now. I plan on getting a new one asap when I get back. Anything to look for on this model?? Thanks!!
