New owner of a 225 merc 2.5 pro max with a low water pick up ?

Hello,
Newbie here to the forum I have a question about the "low water pick up" on my foot . The question is: Is it normal as you trim the motor up going on the water that its not "peeing" as much as it should be? My water pressure gage is reading between 25-30 psi .. As i slow down or trim down the motor the peeing looks normal a steady stream of water. This is my first motor that has the low water pick up. Thanks for any advice.

On that motor yes as about 60% of the cooling is being dumped down exhaust. Dont worry about whats behind you just keep a eye on the gauge as it will tell you more than any temp gauge or "pee" stream..
