New Plebe Candidate arriving tomorrow

One of our own, fishdog4449 (Matt from Va.), will be arriving tomorrow morning at 0530 to start his indoctrination period at the United States Merchant Marine Academy along with 304 of his new best friends. The next few weeks will be the toughest in his lifetime (hopefully!) and the next four years the most rewarding. I wish him the best of luck (especially since I will be his instructor for one of his classes first term) !!!!!!!

Crazy day today. 300 sets of parents seeing their babies with shaved heads in khakis made for lots of tears. Tried to pick out Matt from 305 clones but no success today. After the DI's ripped into them for a few hours, you could see their expressions go from excitement to "what the heck did I get myself into?". When I find Matt I'll pass on the encouragement. I'll try to take some photos next week and post them.

Now drop and give me 20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

angus----- do they use the Upperclassmen use IRP? It was and still is popular when addressing a West Pointer Ask a question and follw it up with "IRP" pronounced as a word. It tended to bug the ring knockers...... uhhhh are there any WP grads here?

Not when I was a midshipman 27 yrs ago, and I will ask around to see if it is a current practice.

Heard from Matt. He is doing well and is upbeat. He will attend my class in the end of August. Still hoping to post pics soon....
