NEW Plexiglass Window Glazing ?!?

Hi Guys,

I'm seeking advice on how to fix the dried up glazing compound used to seat the plexiglass surrounding the cockpit.

Please, no flames - I know that the glazing is only part of the problem: plan to buff out the aluminum corrosion and fine grit wet sand that plexiglass. But what's the use if the glazing stays rotted?

Thanks in advance for any glazing solutions, I'd prefer if possible to avoid taking everything apart as it would double the work tremendously. Ideally I'd like to just cut out the ugly glazing leaving the panels in place, and after renovation the panes just put in a new glaze. Am I dreamin'?

TIA

Richard

After all the old glaze is scrapped out, you might try some marine grade sealer like Boat Life or 3M 4200.

Car windshields have been held in place for many years now using an industrial grade silicone. Could look into using that.

But I would probably use the best grade glazing putty I could find again. It works, is easy to apply and finish, and easy to remove if you need to remove a window. If done right, it shouldn't need attention for 10 years or more.

If you use an adhesive or sealing type product, the windows will be very difficult to remove if needed.

they make butyl base glazing, available in a caulk tube, it's messy, oil based. but lasts for ever.
