We finally found a good deal on a 91 bass buggy 18. It has a 50 horse Mercury that I started up and it ran like a top. The previous owner had just changed the decking and carpet and it has extra swivel seats and a remote control trolling motor. We want to get it on the water and try it out as soon as possible but there are a few things that I want to replace first like the bow winch and strap.
After we try it on the water and get it registered and the title transferred we will start fixing it up with the kind of furniture and things we see in the newer models. When we were looking for a pontoon boat I read where if the pontoons and railing are good and if it is structurally sound then it can be fixed up as long as you don't spend too much for it and this one looks like it should be a good one. I will post pictures as we go along if anybody is interested in seeing them.

Re: New Pontooners!

gpfishingdude,
I would like to see pictures as well as the rest of us here on Iboats. That pontoon boat should be good for you. Yeap, I own a 1991, 20 foot Pontoon made by Lowe, model 202 with upgraded 1983, 70 horse Johnson outboard. Yeap, I brought mine about 4 years ago at Lake of the Ozarks, in Missouri when I was stationed at Scott AFB Illinois an in the US Air Force. I retired, 1 September 2010. Anyway, my pontoon boat was in very good shape and the interior in mint condition and I looked and looked but everyone I saw before I bought this one was total junk and over priced. I saw this pontoon boat and fell in love with it. The only thing wrong with it is it had a 1991, 25 horse Johnson outboard that I thought would be underpowered and I sold it and bought a 1983, 70 horse Johnson and used the existing binnacle mount throttle controls on the pontoon boat since they were nicer and it was a breeze to just swap outboards and plug and play. I am very happy with my pontoon boat and it suits my family just fine. We have taken here out over the past Memorial Day weekend and we had a very good time and ran nice. We are planning on taken her out this Saturday since the weather is supposed tom be nice with light winds expected.
