New power steering help needed

Okay so an update to my power steering woes.

The transom resevoir bottle is 300.00, and if the priority valve is shot they are NLA. So it looks like I am going to go with running 1 pump. The dealer told me that the new twins are running one pump but the other engine still has a pump on it doing nothing?

It must be recirculating or is it run dry, I did ask if they had a shorter belt but he said nope they run a second pump? Is this true and if so how is it plumbed, high pressure side to return and if so does it go through the cooler?

I would think that sounds a bit odd to me I figured they would just use a shorter belt and remove the pump.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Ayuh,... The Simplest way is to find a shorter belt, even if Merc won't give you a # for it...
Use a piece of string to get close on the length,+ go from there...

Or,...
You can loop the oil back to the pump, either thru the cooler, or Not...

I'd go with a shorter belt....
