Well I picked up a 14.5' aluminum smoker craft at the beginning of the summer to fish from and I am looking into a few alterations to get it to where I want it. First off I am not sure of the age or model but I have some pics from thier site that I am pretty sure are it or close enough. I believe that it is an "canadian" with the 3 bench seats but I would like to turn it into a "alaskan" by removing a section of the middle bench seat. my question is I am sure that the seats provide some structural element even though there are some substancial ribs on the bottom of the boat. Would I be able to cut that section, tie it into the ribs and not have any ill effect on the boat it's self. One thing to note is that the seat is riveted into the side of the boat but does not touch the bottom of the boat in the middle. Thank you for your imput. I will post pics of my boat hopefully this evening but I figured I would get the ball rolling.

Take care,

Jacob

yep....you can do it......

but you would have to put a brace form the bottom of the rib to the side of the hull...
