Well just found this boat and had to have it. Shes a 1931 full keel river cruiser. Boat is a small raised deck cruiser that is made from western red cedar and mohagany. She is powered by a 1953 4 cylinder grey marine engine. She needs a little tlc but is solid as hell and currently in the water. Will post pics tomorrow.

Try to load up some pics. Sounds like the boat from "The Aftican Queen".

Man O' Man...IF I wasn't married to a Land Lubber, when I retired, I'd love to find an old boat like that and Move on Board and spend the rest of my days just tinkering and restoring her as I cruised up and down the river docking her whenever and wherever I got the notion!!!! She's a BEAUT!!!! What Potential!!! You truly are a Lucky Man!!!

Interesting looking boat, congratulations!. I'm guessing she was 'locally built'. What does she have for power?? Looks like a lot of fun. Would to see more pictures.

boat needs a good cleaning and some wood replacement on a couple deck boards. The hull and frames are in incredible shape. The house is very solid with only paint peeling issues. The hull is incredibly over built for a vessel this size. frames are 12"s on center and are made from rough cut true 2" material. The current displacement is 10,500 lbs and 2,000 lbs of that in lead. Boat has a full keel, and draft is 42"s which is crazy for a boat this size. I will post some interior pics of the boat this week. Boat was built in 1931 on the west coast in northern California. Boat has only been in the south for the past 4 years.

Neat! ... Sorry, I missed where you said she is powered by a 4 cyl Gray. Nice simple little engine (flat head four, updraft carb.). Parts are pretty easy to find. Graymarine used Continental base engines, and they were used by the thousands in fork lifts, industrial compressors, etc, so it is often easier to look for parts for the 'matching' Continental engine than for the Graymarine.
What is her beam? I thought she looked kind of narrow, which might explain all that internal ballast.
Hmm, .... Pacific Northwest, ... that explains her design, however her styling is quite unique.
