Hey guys, I just picked up my new project boat today. Its a 1992 Pursuit 2150 express. Its powered by a FWC 4.3 w/600hrs merc alpha 1 gen II. The boat is in great shape, but the motor and drive were not properly winterized a few years ago. It had been sitting for about 3 years. I am guessing that the motor and drive are junk. I have a FWC 270hp MPI with about 400 hrs from my old boat that I plan on installing. I also have my old alpha 1 unit that I plan on swapping on to the pursuit aswell.

I dont have any pics as of yet. I didnt get the boat home until after dark tonight. I will snap a few pics off tomorrow and I will post my progress as I get this little pig closer to the water.

I did start in on some of the work tonight. I pulled out the electronics, and tossed them in the trash. All of the electronics have spent the last 3 yrs exposed to the elements, I dont want to take chances, I will replace. out went the VHF, loran, and the fishfinder. I will install a new VHF, GPS and fishfinder.

I removed the outriggers. I did not remove the mounts for them, just the poles to get them out of harms way. I am not a salt water fisherman, but they may come in handy in the future! the are some really nice schaefer 16' outriggers that came with the boat.

I removed the V-berth cushions. and almsot everything that coud be easily removed in a dark and cold New England winter night after the sun went down.

I will have it at my buddy's shop this week to thaw out and I will be circuit testing ALL electrical circuits on the boat. I may even get to starting the re power

All in all, I have a great little boat. It needs very little work other than the re power and the electronics. I have the knowledge for both, and I have the motor and drive waiting for a boat!

I hope by spring to have this little thing ready for some diving and cruising, as i am not much of a salt water fisher man.

Ill keep you posted with the progress on the boat!

thanks guys

Re: new project, Pursuit 2150 Express

deck and stringers seem as solid as a rock! didn't appear to be any damage. the boat was covered for a time but seemed to have blown off earlier this season.

I am the 3rd owner. The original owner kept meticulous care of the boat until they sold it in 2003. The second owner took very good care of the boat until about the end of the 05 or 06 season. family issues forced the boat to go unwinterized and then unused until now. I looked at it today and took it off his hands. He had covered the boat but its seems that the cover had come apart in the last few months.

I am confident that there is little damage to the boat other than the engine/drive.

I have to get the fuel tank drained aswell. And cleaned or something too. New to me on how to do such a thing but Ill figure it out. With out harming the environment.

thanks

This one sounds good! I would like to see pictures.

In the end are you going to trailer this or keep it in a slip?

I'm sure that you already know that Pursuit is a superior quality boat. This will be a great project so please keep us posted. I have come across three Pursuits over the years that had soft transoms but as long as yours is good, you will have a great boat. I'm looking for something similar myself but in the 23-25' range. Good Luck.

I was actually looking for something in the range of 23 -25 myself. When I saw this one, I really liked the boat. Its is awesome shape, and it was way less than I was anticipating on spending.

It will serve its purpose for a few years and then I will move to something larger.

I just draged it down to the carwash to presure wash off some of the drit, mildew and such. The weather gave me a bit of a break, its about 40-45* today. I can get some of the pine needles out of the boat and get some pics.

she is absolutely a mess inside the cockpit area, loaded with pine needles and in need of about 10 gallons of simple green and a scrub brush. I got mpst of the mess out with the pressure washer but it will need to be recleaned when the warmer weather gets here.

Well, the digi cam is all charged up, time to go take some pics! Ill post some pics soon

Tiara Pursuits are really great boats. A friend of mine had a 2150 when we were in high school. Looking forward to seeing some progress pics.

the bow rail got bent in pretty good, not sure what to do about it, I am guessing that I will have to cut it, repair and have a hew section welded in

over all the boat is in great shape, I need to get a few warm days to I can start to scrub this mess back into a respectable vessel

The hull sides still have a good shine. That boat should clean up really well. Those look really nice with a pipe frame and hard top.

I know it will, down the road it will receive a nice hard top of some sort.

I took the boat to the car wash yesterday after the pics. its 10 times better looking now. I have detailed too many boats to event think about counting. This boat will look almost new in the spring.

I cant wait for the spring!
