I want to attempt to move my steering column towards the front of my boat. Wonder if this can be done?

If you go to thread " hello all starcraft owners" you will see my boat on the first page. Want to add more room to back of boat. I do alot of musky fishn and this way i could put the rods out the back at different angles.

She is a 1968 Starcraft Deep V 16 or 17footer with a beam of about 50"

Yeah that can be done. You'll need a longer steering cable though. You can probably find the right one here in the marine store. Just measure the distance between where it is now, and where you want it, and add that to the length of your current cable, round up and that will tell you what length to get. The rest of it is just moving the helm forward (which is the difficult part, in my opinion, or at least tedious anyway)

Shoot, do what i did 2 years ago. made a great fishing boat, with wireless control trolling motor.
