New Prop - 1/8 inch clearance?

I just got a new prop for my 1971 50hp Evinrude (50173S). The old prop was 13-3/4X15, the new prop is 14X13.

When I put the new prop on, I noticed there is barely 1/8" clearance between the tip of the prop and the trim tab anode??

I am afraid to spin the prop! Is that enough clearance? The prop selector shows that prop as an option for my motor.

Sounds too close to me. I'd remove it and try it. Perhaps you could cut it down if you feel you need it on there.

The prop will move forward slightly (clutch dog slack), but not backwards. Both the prop and tab are fixed entities. Personally I run about 1/4" clearance on my 24P Ballistic. Would not have a problem if I only had 1/8". Now, if it were something else, that could wobble, then you might be concerned about it.

It is actually the clearance between the tip of the blade and the bottom of the anti-cavitation plate. I called the prop shop and they said the prop make only sells props that fit perfectly and that 1/8" is not a problem. Scary though to see that small of a gap and thinking about that prop spinning 5500rpm!
