Hey all, im fairly new to boat ownership, so this is all fun and exciting for me. Ive got a 58" Evinrude big twin 35 that ill need to put a new prop on soon. the one on it isnt to bad, a few dings, but still useable. What kind of prop should I be looking for? Also im not sure how to set or where to set the pitch to for optimal power/fuel econ.

Re: New prop for 58' Evinrude

Ahh the 58 big twin Those Evindude/Johnson twins were/are great old motors lots of low end grunt and a
reasonable top speed.said to do 33 on a light reasonably fast boat. 4000 to 5000 rpm range. Came with a 10 1/8 X 13 1/4 prop.,
may be a little thirsty though cruising speed does pretty well.
To do this right we will need a tach perhaps a Tinytach, and gps for speed.
There is an 11 1/2" and a 12" listed here at boats I have a feeling one will work well on most size appropriate boats.
If you get the information needed in the stickys at the top of the prop forum we can get started.
